Enjoying a Good Book Poetry Home

Tips on enjoying a good book:

Take it with you!

You don't have to sit in your room to read. Bring a book when you are out walking, bike riding, on a long car trip, whenever. Read a little, walk a little, then read a little more.

Get the picture!

Draw the characters from the book, or a house or car. Draw the landscape where the book takes place. Help yourself picture what's going on and the book will seem more real to you.

Share a laugh!

Find the funniest part of the book and read it to a friend. Maybe then they will read you something funny that they find.

Lights, Camera, Read!

Pick a cast for the movie you would make from the book. You can pick actors and actresses to play the parts, or pick people you know. Just imagine your best friend in cowboy boots and spurs facing down the desperados in Stick and Whittle (by Sid Hite).

It Stinks, It Was Great!

You aren't going to enjoy every book you read. Keep a list of the worst books in the universe, and the dumbest lines from each book.
